Plant of the Week, Raindrops Echeveria

echeveria raindrops

Succulents are a brave new world for me, as in the past I have tended to overwater them or neglect them too long in the assumption they didn’t need much water. When I purchased this echeveria, it was huge and had a long flowering stalk. The large lower leaves had the distinctive bump which gives this the name ‘raindrops’. I feel it is a success that it is still alive, and seems to be growing, albeit slowly, even though it lost a lot of leaves in the beginning. I probably need to repot it so that it’s seated in the soil better, but I am going to wait for the weather warmup in the spring.
