Plant of the Week, Raindrops Echeveria

echeveria raindrops

Succulents are a brave new world for me, as in the past I have tended to overwater them or neglect them too long in the assumption they didn’t need much water. When I purchased this echeveria, it was huge and had a long flowering stalk. The large lower leaves had the distinctive bump which gives this the name ‘raindrops’. I feel it is a success that it is still alive, and seems to be growing, albeit slowly, even though it lost a lot of leaves in the beginning. I probably need to repot it so that it’s seated in the soil better, but I am going to wait for the weather warmup in the spring.

Plant of the Week, Pepperomia

Today’s plant is the Moneyplant, in the white plant pot. (the plant in the tomato can is a spider plant) Pilea peperomioides also known as Chinese money plant. This plant was so cute I just had to bring it home, even though I know nothing about growing them! As you can see, there is a little mottling on some of the leaves – I think this is a combo of too low light and not the watering pattern it prefers. I’ve since purchased a plant light and have been remembering to check it for being moist enough, and it seems to be perking up. I will have to do an update in the spring – fingers crossed for a good report!

Plant of the week, Hoya carnosa

Hoya carnosa – this hoya started as a cutting I put in a gallon glass wine jug. It has been doing so well, I’ve left it in the water. It lives by my kitchen sink & is climbing my bead curtain. lol No flowers yet, but I am keeping an eye out for the spurs. #houseplants #plantsofinstagram #plantstagram #greenwitch #witchesofinstagram

Plant of the Week – Flowering Jade

I acquired this flowering jade over a year ago. It is growing nicely. I’m looking forward to it blooming some day! This is a crassula, though I’m unsure of which specific sort it is. #houseplants #plantsofinstagram #plantstagram #greenwitch #witchesofinstagram
