Isis Oracle pocket edition deck review

Isis Oracle (pocket edition) by Alana Fairchild

This edition is a 44 card set in a sturdy box.  There is a card which gives an introduction on one side, and a couple of spreads / how to use on the other side.  There is no guide book – instead, each card has an image on one side, and the name/meaning on the other side.

It’s perfect for a daily quick-draw practice.

Smith-Waite Centennial edition Tarot deck review

The Smith-Waite Centennial Tarot

Tarot has been with us long enough that there are many editions of the more traditional decks.  If you have not cared for the more garish colors of the Rider deck, you may find that you really enjoy this centennial edition of the Smith-Waite deck.  The art is more muted in tone.

Deviant Moon Tarot deck review

Deviant Moon Tarot by Patrick Valenza

I’m reviewing the borderless edition.  I absolutely adore this quirky deck ~ the creator has captured the essence of the traditional meanings in each card.  The images have a feeling of being in motion rather than a static painting on a page.

This deck comes with a little guide book.  Each card is described and then given both upright and reversed meanings.  In the back there is the Lunatic Spread:

The Deviant Moon shines its influence across the land, affecting one’s mind, dreams, and destiny with her silvery glow. The Lunatic Spread mimics the shape of the full moon, and derives energy from its circular pattern.

If you are looking for a deck for this spooky season, the autumnal moments, that liminal space between Samhain and Yule, you may really find it worthwhile to work with this deck.

Mother Mary Oracle deck review

Mother Mary Oracle by Alana Fairchild

This oracle deck is one of the most gentle decks I have come across for those looking to work on healing their mother-wounds.  In October, many people begin a journey of shadow work as we enter the time between equinox and solstice.  If you are one of them, you may find this deck helpful.

The cards are large and the guidebook is pretty extensive.  190 pages for the book and there are 44 cards.

The book not only has more than one layout to use, but plenty of information to go with each of the cards.  For each card, there is a short piece written from the voice of that card; information about the card and the message you’ve just read with a lot of insights; and finally a ‘healing process and affirmation’.

“I have many names and faces. Beyond those names and faces, I am your loving mother always. I come to you in light and darkness, through joy, and even, my beloved, through loss and tragedy.” (Alana Fairchild)
